About Disease
Newcastle Disease (ND) is an acute, highly contagious disease of poultry caused by the Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV). ND commonly presents with septicemia, characterized by respiratory distress, neurological disorders, mucosal and serosal hemorrhages. Due to its rapid onset and high mortality rate, it poses a serious threat to poultry farming. The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) classifies Newcastle Disease as a notifiable animal disease, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China lists it as a Class I animal disease.
