About Disease
Pseudorabies virus (PRV), also known as Aujeszky’s disease virus, pseudorabies virus, or infectious bulbar paralysis virus, is a herpesvirus that causes fever, intense itching (except in pigs), and encephalomyelitis in cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs, and cats. Pigs are the natural host for pseudorabies and are highly susceptible, with severe consequences such as abortions, stillborn piglets, and neonatal piglet death. The disease in adult pigs is often subclinical but can cause respiratory symptoms. The virus is primarily spread through nasal secretions, saliva, milk, and urine of infected pigs, and some carriers can shed the virus for up to a year. This kit is used for detecting pseudorabies virus, which is crucial for diagnosing and evaluating the efficacy of treatments for diseases and complications caused by the virus.
