DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TX — August 14, 2026 — Infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK), commonly known as cattle pinkeye, is one of the most common eye diseases affecting cattle and can cause excessive tearing, squinting, corneal ulceration, and temporary or permanent vision impairment.

Important bacterial pathogens associated with cattle pinkeye include Moraxella bovis, Moraxella bovoculi, and Moraxella ovis. BioStone has experience supporting programs involving all three organisms. For herd-specific programs requiring broader bacterial coverage, BioStone can formulate autogenous bacterins containing combinations of up to five bacterial isolates, as prescribed by the veterinarian. This provides flexibility to incorporate multiple herd-relevant isolates into a single autogenous bacterin program when appropriate.
For autogenous bacterin programs, field isolates may be submitted by veterinarians or diagnostic laboratories and used to develop herd-specific bacterial antigen preparations. BioStone can supply inactivated bacterial antigens for further manufacturing or formulate and manufacture complete autogenous bacterins using BioStone adjuvant systems, depending on the needs of the veterinarian and cattle operation.
Because the bacterial strains associated with pinkeye can differ among herds and geographic regions, autogenous bacterins provide veterinarians with an option to develop an immunization program based on isolates associated with a specific herd or epidemiologically related group of animals.
