DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TX — November 12, 2024— BioStone Animal Health is pleased to announce that evaluation of our AsurDx™ bELISA and iELISA for African Swine Fever (ASF) antibody was published on November 8, 2024, in the peer-reviewed journal, Pathogens [1]. The evaluation was conducted at the National Center for Foreign Animal Disease (NCFAD, Winnipeg, Canada), which is one of seven ASF-reference laboratories recognized by the World Organization of Animal Health (WOAH), formally known as the Office International des Epizooties (OIE). More than 4,000 pig serum were evaluated to complete their evaluation. The ELISA performance was based on anti-ASFV antibody detection in serum samples collected from pigs experimentally infected with multiple ASFV strains and field samples collected from sick, recovering, and vaccinated animals.
As reported, AsurDx™ ASF antibody bELISA, iELISA and the widely used PPA kit have comparable levels of specificity (~99%) to ASFV antibody detection. The ASFV p54-based AsurDx™ bELISA positively identified ASFV-infected and vaccinated pigs earlier than the commercially available PPA kit. The AsurDx™ bELISA could also be used to detect anti-ASFV antibodies in other pig species that are susceptible to ASFV, such as warthogs and bush pigs. The AsurDx™ iELISA is an equally sensitive and specific assay that can be used to detect anti-ASFV antibodies in serum and meat exudate samples from domestic and wild pigs. AsurDx™ bELISA and AsurDx™ iELISA can be used for the serological detection of anti-ASFV antibodies during disease investigations, for postoutbreak surveillance, and to assess vaccine uptake following live-attenuated ASFV vaccination.
