Dallas – Forth Worth, TX — May 12, 2026 — BioStone Animal Health is pleased to announce that the AsurDx™ African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) Antibody Indirect ELISA (iELISA) has been independently evaluated by the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI), Germany’s National Reference Laboratory for African Swine Fever (ASF), with the study results published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal Pathogens.
The published study, entitled “Sensitivity and Specificity Assessment of Various African Swine Fever ELISA Kits for Accurate Detection of Seropositive Wild Boar”, evaluated several commercially available ASFV antibody ELISA kits using both domestic pig and challenging wild boar field samples collected during ASF surveillance activities in Germany.
According to the FLI evaluation, the BioStone AsurDx™ ASFV Antibody iELISA demonstrated excellent diagnostic performance, particularly for difficult wild boar field samples commonly affected by hemolysis and tissue degradation. The BioStone assay achieved approximately 95.83% specificity and 90.00% sensitivity for wild boar samples, significantly outperforming several internationally marketed ASF ELISA kits evaluated under the same conditions, including ID Screen® ASF ELISA (IDvet) and INgezim PPA COMPAC® ELISA.
The FLI study reported that:
- ID Screen® ASF ELISA (IDvet) demonstrated approximately 45.38% sensitivity for wild boar samples.
- INgezim PPA COMPAC® ELISA demonstrated approximately 58.91% sensitivity for wild boar samples.
- BioStone AsurDx™ ASFV Antibody iELISA demonstrated approximately 90.00% sensitivity for wild boar samples.
The BioStone assay also demonstrated excellent performance with domestic pig samples, achieving approximately 100% specificity and 98.94% sensitivity in the FLI evaluation.
The AsurDx™ ASFV Antibody iELISA is based on recombinant ASFV p54 and p72 antigens and is designed for the detection of ASFV antibodies in swine serum samples. The assay supports:

African Swine Fever remains one of the most economically devastating diseases affecting the global swine industry.
