AsurDx™ Brucella Abortus Antibody Test Kit (Bovine)
The AsurDx™ Brucella Abortus Antibody Test Kit (Bovine) is designed for the detection of antibodies specific to Brucella abortus (B. abortus). Brucellosis is a highly contagious zoonosis caused by ingestion of unpasteurized milk or undercooked meat from infected animals or close contact with their secretions. Brucella species are small, gram-negative, nonmotile, nonspore-forming, rod-shaped (coccobacilli) bacteria. They function as facultative intracellular parasites, causing chronic disease, which usually persists for life. Four species infect humans: B. abortus, B. canis, B. melitensis, and B. suis. B. abortus is less virulent than B. melitensis and is primarily a disease of cattle. Symptoms include profuse sweating and joint and muscle pain. After infection with B. abortus, antibodies of the IgM class appear and are followed by antibodies in the IgG classes (IgG1 and IgG2).
The AsurDx™ Brucella Abortus Antibody Test Kit detects antibodies of the IgG in bovine serum/plasma and milk. The AsurDx™ Brucella Abortus Antibody Test Kit (Bovine) provides a simple, rapid, sensitive, and cost-effective enzyme-based immunoassay (ELISA) screening method.
