About Disease
M. gallisepticum (MG) is a bacterium belonging to the class Mollicutes and the family Mycoplasmataceae. It is the causative agent of chronic respiratory disease in chickens and infectious sinusitis in turkeys, chickens, game birds, pigeons, and passerine birds of all ages. M. gallisepticum (MG) is associated with chronic respiratory disease in chickens and infectious sinusitis in turkeys. Economic losses due to M. gallisepticum infection include reduced egg production, poor eggshell quality, lowered hatchability of chickens and downgraded meat quality.
