DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TX — April 3, 2023 — BioStone Animal Health is pleased to announce the launch of AsurDx^TM Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis Virus/Maedi-Visna Virus (CAEV/MVV) Antibody Test Kit for the detection of antibodies specific to Caprine arthritis encephalitis and Maedi-visna virus (CAEV/MVV) in goat and sheep sera and plasma. Caprine arthritis encephalitis (CAE) is a retroviral disease of goats that is primarily transferred through colostrum and milk of infected animals but can also be transmitted in utero or through infected saliva. It affects the host immune system, primarily macrophages and monocytes; a common early sign of infection is weight loss.  Other symptoms can include arthritis, pneumonia, indurative mastitis, reduced milk production, and encephalitis.
