BioStone Animal Health Launches PRRS GP5 Antibody Test Kit

DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TX — Jun 9, 2023 — BioStone Animal Health is pleased to announce the launch of the AsurDx^TM PRRS GP5 Antibody Test Kit for the detection of pig antibodies specific to Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) virus GP5 protein. PRRS is a highly contagious, economically devastating disease. Reproductive problems, such as premature births, late-term abortions, and increased stillbirths, lead to increased piglet mortality and reduced growth; respiratory disease sickens pigs and makes them vulnerable to secondary infection. The open reading frame (ORF) 5 of the PRRS virus encodes a major envelope glycoprotein designated GP5. The GP5 protein binds to the M protein to form a disulfide-linked heterodimer and contains immunologically important domains associated with virus neutralization. The GP5 protein is a candidate for vaccinating against PRRS virus infection. The AsurDx^TM PRRS GP5 Antibody Test Kit detects PRRS GP5 protein antibodies in pig serum/plasma.
